Journalist, poet, feminist born in Tbilisi in 1979. In 2002, she graduated from Tbilisi State University's Journalism Faculty with a master’s degree in journalism; she has been working as a reporter since 2000.
Qevanishvili has published four books of poetry (in 2006, 2010, 2013 and 2016); her 2013 collection, Selling the House, received the Saba literary award for best poetry collection in 2014. She has also authored a collection of literary essays – or, ‘literary profiles’.
Eka Qevanishvili's work has been translated into English, Lithuanian, German and Russian. Her poetry is characterized by the diversity of themes and topics – war, conflict, social injustice, feminism. Her latest poetry collection The Evacuation Plan was called “a manifest of some kind, a collection of slogans and challenges to revolt and fight.’
She has been working for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Tbilisi bureau, since 2008.
